What if I have to cancel?

Once a participant is accepted, payments must be made according to schedule or the position will be made available to a trip backlist. To insure a reservation we must send out payment to the airlines, hotels, ground transport companies and Biostation many months in advance. In the past this has made full refunds very difficult as many of these groups have strict non-refundable policies. Please consider this before applying to the program. In general, however, every effort will be made to refund payments due to unavoidable cancellations, based on the Refund Cancellation Schedule listed below:

Refund Cancellation Schedule:

  • 6 months notice = full refund
  • 5 - 3 months notice = all fees less non-refundable deposits. (Caution: fees can be up to 20% of trip cost!)
  • 2 months - 1 week = all payments non-refundable
PLEASE CAREFULLY CONSIDER YOUR SUMMER SCHEDULE BEFORE APPLYING TO THIS PROGRAM
Where will participants stay?

Participants will be housed at the Bermuda Biological Station (BBS). They will be able to use the full research facilities of the BBS (labs, equipment, boats, trucks) to explore and to understand the island.

Who can participate?

The program is limited to 30 students.

How much does it cost?

The total cost of the trip including all air fares to/from the USA to Bermuda, transfers from the east coast, room, meals, lab fees, ground and water transportation, admissions, insurance and field assistance is : $2,400.   Included is an extensive reference book written/compiled specifically for this trip. At the trip's completion students will receive a multimedia video of their experiences as well as dozens of color slide out-takes. (Not included are any off-campus dinners, and personal taxi-trips.)
